Auction FAQ
Why does St Francis have an auction and Gala?
This is our main fundraising event of the year. All of the proceeds from this event go into the schools operating account to help offset tuition. It costs over $9000 to educate a child at St Francis and our tuition falls short of that cost. Although it is our main fundraiser of the year, our first priority is community. This evening is our chance to come together as a community and support a common goal.
How much are tickets?
Tickets cost $75 each. Your ticket includes admission, access to the live and silent auctions, appetizers, dinner, dessert dash, dancing and an amazing evening of fun!
Where is the auction held?
The auction is being held at The Center at 2300, 2300 Sierra Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95825. It is located near the Shalom school, just behind Fair Oaks Blvd and Howe Ave. There is plenty of free parking at The Center at 2300 for anybody wanting to drive and easy enough for UBER/LYFT or taxis to find.
What time is the Auction & Gala?
The evening runs from 5:30pm - 10:30pm.
What do I wear?
This years theme is Bubbles & Bling, with signature colors of pink, silver, gold, and white. Dress is cocktail or theme attire.
Can I bring a guest, who does not go to St Francis Elementary?
Absolutely! The auction and gala is a chance for us to celebrate our community.
Can I come by myself?
Yes, no need to bring a date or friend. There will be lots of people to meet during the evening.
Is there assigned seating?
Certain sponsorships and staff get reserved tables. We added a new category this year of purchase a SFE Friends and Family table for 8. Everybody else will be assigned seating, so make sure to check the seating chart at the check-in.
What is the run down for the evening?
The auction opens at 5:30pm. Guests need to check in and get their auction booklet. NEW this year - you can avoid the check-in line at the event by checking in on Friday, November 1 at school pick-up. The silent auction will open a few days before the event and will have staggered closing until 7:30pm on the night of the auction. The silent auction lots will all be set up on tables around the edge of the main event room. We will also have a dessert auction with desserts up for grabs. Each table will bid the amount they feel comfortable with, for a dessert. The table with the highest bid will get to pick a dessert first, followed by the next highest and the next until everybody receives their dessert. Raffle tickets for our cash raffle and keys for our locked box will be available for purchase. During this time guests can mingle, and have a drink.
Mr. Hrga will open the auction with a welcome speech and a prayer.
Guests take their seats and eat dinner. Dinner is buffet style and will be catered by Randy Peters Catering. Our dessert auction dash will start. Once all of the desserts have been claimed, your dessert will be delivered to you after dinner and you can share it with your table or take it home.
During dinner the raffle will be pulled and the silent auction will close. As soon as the silent auction closes the check out opens and will stay open until the end of the night. PLEASE make sure to check out at the end of the night, even if you provided a credit card at the start of the evening.
The live auction will start at 7:45pm. You can bid on an item by holding your number up high. Your number is attached to the back of your auction booklet. At the end of the live auction we will have our Fund-A-Need. Each year we pick a big need in the school that needs extra funds. In the past we have raised money for painting a new mural in the hallway, technology and our urban garden. This year we have chosen to raise money for the STEAM lab.
At the end of the live auction, keys will be tried in the locked box, to see who is the winner. Once the live auction has ended, our DJ will light up the dance floor for a good boogie. The auction and Gala closes at 10:30pm.
How does bidding work?
As soon as the silent auction opens you will get a text/email with details of how to log into the mobile bidding site through greater giving. You can make a list of items to watch and bid on items. You will receive a text every time you have been out bid. Make sure to charge your phone, tablet or iPad before coming to the auction.
Do I have to buy something at the auction?
No! We hope you do, but your ticket price fully covers the cost of the evening. We do encourage every attendee to bid as a table for a dessert. The more your table bids, the better the dessert your table will receive!
When do I pay for items that I have won?
You will need to go through checkout at the end of the night and pick up your auction items.
What kind of items are up for grabs?
We have a variety of items in our silent auction, generously donated by people in our community. Many are made up into baskets or remain as single items. It can be anything from toys and games to event tickets to food/drink or even art. The Live auction includes bigger items such as teacher experiences, sporting events, and vacation homes. We also have a cash raffle and a locked box with lots of goodies.
What is new this year?
Instead of class projects, every student in the school has created an individual project of a photo frame with their photo. You can purchase these for $40 each at check-out. We have added sign up parties this year - these are fun set price experiences with staff members. Sign up for one or all of them. We have increased the prizes of our cash raffle this year - 1st prize - $650, 2nd prize - $400, and 3rd prize - $250.
